Joe Batty of Halifax. Circa 1770. 12” square brass dial, 30 hour rope/weight driven clock, Striking on a bell, silvered chapter ring, date and Halifax moon apertures. Dark oak case with blind fretwork to hood and quarter columns to trunk. Full length door with Ogee pattern to top. Blind fretwork to top of hood. The silvered Halifax moon is unusual and is from the transition period away from the earlier silvered ‘Penny Moon’ style to the later painted scenes shown on the typically larger ‘Axe Head’ or ‘Semi Circular’ style. 81” tall, 21” wide overall (trunk 13 ½” wide) 10 ½” deep.
